Locally owned and proudly part of the Williamsburg community since 1998, The Wine Seller has long been a go-to destination for discovering great wine, craft beer, and friendly expertise. On January 1, 2026, the shop entered an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Jason Steeg (owner of Honeybutters and Five Forks Café) and Brian & Karen Doherty, William & Mary alumni with deep roots in the local community and a shared passion for hospitality.
Brian brings years of experience in the craft beer world, having spent more than eight years with Alewerks Brewing Company, and together the ownership team is focused on building a place where both locals and visitors can feel at home while exploring something new.
Our goal is simple: help you find your next favorite wine or beer. Whether you’re shopping for a special bottle, a weeknight go-to, or a gift, we’re here to make it easy and enjoyable. And if you’d rather stay awhile, join us at our bar featuring 12 rotating beers and 14 wines by the glass, or enjoy something from our café menu of tasty small plates and light bites.

Our Story
The Wine Seller was born from a shared love of great food, great drinks, and bringing people together. Jason, a trained chef and longtime restaurant owner, brings The Cork Café to life with thoughtful, crowd-pleasing dishes. Brian adds his deep knowledge of craft beer and bar operations, while Karen is the creative force behind the experience, shaping the look, feel, and details that make The Wine Seller feel special. Together, they’ve created a place where good food, good wine, and good company come together naturally.
